This Privacy Policy explains what information Kin Wire (operated by [Your business/legal name]) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Kin Wire to have no ads and no fluff — that includes how we handle your data.

1. Information we collect

• Account info: your email address (used to sign you in via magic link) and, optionally, your name.
• Brief settings: your home city, the city or cities you're tracking (up to two on our Unlimited plan, one otherwise — e.g. where a family member lives), any custom coverage instructions you give us, and your topic preferences.
• Timezone: detected automatically from your browser, so daily limits reset at your local midnight rather than a server's.
• Generated briefs: we store the briefs generated for you, so we can show your most recent one back to you without regenerating it.
• Billing records: subscription status, wallet balance, and transaction history. We do not store your card number — that's held entirely by Stripe.

2. About the cities you track

If you enter a city or cities for people you care about, we only collect the place name(s) you provide — we don't collect those people's names, contact details, or any other personal information about them, and they are never contacted or made aware through Kin Wire.

If you give us custom coverage instructions (e.g. "more municipal politics, less sports"), we use that text only to steer what our AI searches for and writes about in your brief — it's never shared with anyone or used for anything else.

3. How we use your information

• To generate and personalize your daily brief.
• To process payments and manage your subscription or wallet balance.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
• To communicate with you about your account (e.g. sign-in links, billing receipts).

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising — Kin Wire has no ads.

4. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to operate Kin Wire, each processing only what they need to do their job:

• Anthropic — receives your brief settings (locations, topics) to generate your brief via AI and web search.
• Stripe — receives billing information to process payments. Stripe, not Kin Wire, handles your payment details directly.
• Supabase — hosts our database and handles account authentication.
• Vercel — hosts the application itself.

Some of these providers may process data on servers located outside Canada. We select providers with strong security and privacy practices, but data transferred internationally may be subject to the laws of the country where it's processed.

5. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing [Your contact email] — we don't yet have a self-service delete button, but we'll action requests promptly. Some records (like billing history) may be retained longer where required for tax, accounting, or legal purposes.

7. Your rights

8. Children

Kin Wire is not directed at children, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
