These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Kin Wire, a personalized Canadian daily news brief service operated by Onyx Custom Motorcycles Inc., doing business as Kin Wire ("Kin Wire," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using Kin Wire, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Kin Wire generates a personalized daily news brief using AI (Anthropic's Claude models) combined with live web search, based on the home city, up to two optional tracked cities (depending on your plan), any custom coverage instructions you provide, and the topics you select. Briefs are written by an AI system, not human editors, and are intended for general informational and personal use.
You can also have a brief delivered by email once a week. On a paid plan this is included and starts switched on; on a free account it stays off until you switch it on. Either way you can switch it off at any time — from settings, from the unsubscribe link in any brief we send, or from your mail app's own unsubscribe control. Switching it off does not cancel your subscription or change anything else.
An emailed brief counts as one of your briefs for the month, exactly as if you had requested it yourself. If your monthly allowance is already used up, it is charged at the same per-brief rate as any other brief beyond your allowance (see section 3). If you have neither allowance nor balance, we don't send it and you aren't charged.
We don't promise an email every week. Before sending, we check that the brief has enough substance and that enough of its items link to a source. If it doesn't clear that bar we don't send it, and you aren't charged for it. We would rather miss a week than mail you something thin — but it does mean the weekly brief is a best effort, not a guarantee.
The free weekly is the national section only, built once and sent to everyone who gets it. It is never charged to anyone. It goes through the same checks, and is withheld the same way when it fails them.
Kin Wire offers three ways to use the service:
All payments are processed by Stripe. Kin Wire never receives or stores your full card number.
First-payment refund. If Kin Wire isn't what you hoped, email hello@kinwire.ca within 30 days of your first subscription payment and we'll refund it in full. No explanation needed, and you can keep any briefs you've already read. This applies once per account, to your first payment only.
Beyond that, and except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, including for partial subscription periods. Wallet top-ups are non-refundable once added, since the balance is spent on generation as you use it. You can cancel a subscription at any time and keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Briefs are generated by an AI system that searches the web and summarizes what it finds. Like any AI system, it can make mistakes, miss context, omit facts, or inaccurately represent the original source material — the original publisher always remains the authoritative version of any story. Kin Wire does not provide legal, financial, medical, investment, emergency, or other professional advice of any kind, and nothing in a brief should be treated as such. For anything time-sensitive or safety-critical (weather warnings, evacuation orders, emergency alerts, and similar), always verify directly with official government, emergency management, or news sources before acting.
You agree not to:
Kin Wire relies on third-party providers to operate: Anthropic (AI generation and web search), Stripe (payments), Supabase (accounts and data storage), Resend (email delivery, if you've opted in), and Vercel (hosting). Your use of Kin Wire is also subject to the availability and terms of these providers, which are outside our control. We aren't responsible for outages, errors, or decisions made by these providers, and we don't guarantee continuous, uninterrupted availability of Kin Wire.
Kin Wire, its branding, and its underlying software belong to us — using the service doesn't give you any ownership interest in the platform or software. The information you provide (your name, locations, topic preferences) remains yours — we use it only to generate and deliver your brief, as described in our Privacy Policy. Unless otherwise permitted by law, you may not reproduce, redistribute, sell, or commercially exploit the briefs Kin Wire generates for you without our permission — they're for your personal use.
Kin Wire respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe content accessible through Kin Wire infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us at hello@kinwire.ca with enough information to identify the material and your claim. We will promptly investigate and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material.
You can stop using Kin Wire and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abuse, or fail to pay amounts owed.
You agree to indemnify and hold Kin Wire and its operators harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the service or your violation of these Terms.
Kin Wire is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kin Wire and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including decisions made based on brief content.
We don't guarantee continuous, error-free availability of Kin Wire. We're not liable for any failure or delay in the service caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including outages or disruptions of the third-party providers we depend on.
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and the courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Kin Wire.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
